Yoga for Older Adults

Guess what?

These are my parents (and my dog, Peanut)! They’re both 74, and I encourage them to stretch every chance I get. Private yoga classes are so beneficial to seniors because as we age, we start to lose muscle mass and our balance starts to decline. In fact, according to the National Institute of Health, our balance starts to decline between the ages of 40 and 50 so it’s best to start working on it early! I work with seniors in their own homes and provide all the props and supplies we’ll need for our classes. We work on creating stability, balance (of course!) and assisted stretching. BENEFITS OF PRIVATE CLASSES

Private classes have innumerable benefits but.. to name a few, here it goes: Private classes are personal. We work together to create goals, whether that’s learning to relieve stress or to learn a proper plank, I’ll come up with a plan to make it happen! Additionally, one-on-one training is what I do best! I primarily work with adults 55+ who are looking to relief nagging aches and pains or just keep moving in the decades to come. We’ll work together to find the perfect blend of strength, flexibility and balance to meet your individual goals.

WHAT DO I NEED?

Not too much other than a mat’s worth of floor space! I’ll provide a mat if you need one and any props we may need such as a bolster, blocks, blankets and a strap. Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely (no shoes needed!) and make sure to have a water bottle handy!

 
 

Allison has been coming to my house twice a week to give private yoga instruction to me and my daughter. She is an absolute pro, always on time, and we are learning so much. She is a joy to work with and we always look forward to our sessions. Allison gives us options on what we'd like to work on, and we end up getting a well-rounded lesson (we're both beginners but not for long!) and feeling invigorated and relaxed. Highly recommend!
